Manage Partner Technicians

Technician accounts allow partners and installers to support customer sites without sharing an admin account. Partners invite technicians through the partner portal and assign them to specific sites. After assignment, customers and site administrators can activate or update technicians' site permissions in the BioStar Air admin portal. This lets you control partner support access, implement audit trails, and limit access to only the sites that are necessary.

Benefits of technician management

Technician accounts are designed for professionals who provide system installation, maintenance, and technical support across multiple customer sites. Partners can define each technician's role and permission level to implement the following.

  • Enhanced Security: Reduce the risk of unauthorized access by removing shared admin accounts

  • Compliance: Meets privacy regulations; option to exclude access to user data

  • Efficient management: Track and audit individual technicians' activities across multiple sites

  • Flexible permission control: Granular permissions per technician and per site

Limitations

  • Separate accounts required for the partner portal and the BioStar Air portal: Each portal requires a separate sign-up process. Passwords are not synchronized between portals.

  • No expiration or time-based access control: Technician access does not expire automatically. Site administrators must manually lock or remove access.

  • Fixed access permissions: Only 4 predefined permission levels are available. Custom roles or granular permissions cannot be created.

    • None / Devices Only / Full Excluding Users / Full Including Users
  • Customer activation required when assigning technicians: Technicians assigned by partners must be unlocked by the site administrator before they can access the site. Lack of clear communication may delay support or installation.

  • No bulk assignment: Technicians must be assigned individually per site.

  • Technician and administrator roles cannot share the same email address: An email address that is already registered as a technician in the partner portal cannot be invited as an administrator. When changing a role, you must delete the existing account and re-invite the user with the new role.
