BioStar Air

Version 2.13.0

Release|2026-08-25

BioStar Air v2.13.0 continues our commitment to making cloud access control flexible, practical, and ready for more complex sites.

Until now, BioStar Air has primarily served sites with relatively straightforward access control requirements. With this release, we are beginning to expand beyond those scenarios by adding more advanced identity management, movement enforcement, presence monitoring, and emergency-response capabilities.

Anti-Passback and Zones give customers more control over how users move through secured areas. On Site Now provides a real-time view of who is currently on site, while Roll Call uses the same presence information to provide more useful emergency lists.

This release also introduces SSO and SCIM integration for larger or IT-managed organizations, a Stripe Billing proof of concept for selected sites, and an easier way to manage access levels directly from door workflows.

Whether you are managing an office, laboratory, warehouse, school, gym, multi-tenant building, or multi-building site, version 2.13.0 gives you stronger identity control, better movement enforcement, clearer emergency workflows, and more efficient configuration.

Anti-Passback and Zones

BioStar Air now supports zone-based Anti-Passback.

Anti-Passback checks whether users enter and exit controlled areas in the correct sequence. This helps prevent credential sharing, unauthorized re-entry, and invalid movement between secured areas.

Administrators can create zones, assign entry and exit devices, and choose how Anti-Passback should respond when a violation occurs.

Available modes include:

  • Hard Anti-Passback, which denies access when a user violates the configured rule.

  • Soft Anti-Passback, which allows access but records the violation.

  • None, which applies no Anti-Passback enforcement.

Additional settings include Anti-Passback exception groups, re-entry delays, automatic violation clearing, and door-sensor confirmation.

The new Zones page provides a central place to configure Anti-Passback and review zone information. Administrators can see how many people are currently considered inside each zone, check the status of assigned devices, and review the Anti-Passback mode applied to each zone.

A separate Violations page shows users with active Anti-Passback violations. Administrators can review the affected user, zone, and door, then clear violations individually or in bulk.

This gives customers better control over movement through site perimeters and internal areas while improving the accuracy of presence records.

Información
  • Anti-Passback behavior and zone counts depend on the correct configuration of entry and exit devices.

  • Clearing an active violation does not remove the original event from Event Logs.

  • For more information on configuring zones and Anti-Passback, see:

On Site Now and Presence

On Site Now gives administrators a real-time view of which active users are currently considered on site.

The feature uses access events and the site’s Perimeter Zone to determine whether a user is On Site or Off Site. This allows administrators to check current presence without having to reconstruct user movements from Event Logs.

With this update:

  • The Dashboard shows the current number of users On Site.

  • A new Presence page shows On Site and Off Site users.

  • Administrators can see the last door used by each user.

  • Administrators can search and review detailed presence information.

  • Presence status can be corrected manually when needed.

  • Manual presence changes are recorded in Audit Logs.

  • Sites without exit readers can use an off-site timer to update presence after a defined period.

The Perimeter Zone defines the entry and exit devices used for site-level presence. A user is marked On Site after entering through an entry device and Off Site after exiting through an exit device.

The same presence information is used across the Dashboard, Presence page, Zones, and Roll Call. This gives administrators and safety personnel a more consistent understanding of who is currently considered on site.

Información
  • Presence information depends on access events and correct Perimeter Zone configuration. If events are delayed while a device is offline, presence information may update after the device reconnects.

  • For more information on the Presence feature, see Comprobar Presencia.

Roll Call Improvements

We’ve improved Roll Call to use the same presence information as On Site Now.

Previously, Roll Call could assume that all active users were present. With this update, safety personnel can distinguish between users who are currently considered on site and other users assigned to the selected muster point.

Muster responsibilities can also be assigned to specific administrators and operators. This helps divide responsibility during an emergency and allows each responder to focus on the users associated with their muster point.

This update adds or improves:

  • On Site and All Assigned user views during an active Roll Call.

  • Site-wide and individual muster point Roll Call workflows.

  • Administrator and operator assignment by muster point.

  • Roll Call history with additional safe-count information.

  • Notifications that guide on-site mobile credential users to the correct muster point.

  • Notifications that warn off-site mobile credential users not to enter during an active Roll Call.

  • Roll Call activity in Event Logs and Audit Logs.

Site Masters and unassigned administrators or operators can manage a site-wide Roll Call or select individual muster points. Assigned administrators and operators can focus on their own muster point and the users within their responsibility.

This helps safety personnel work from a more useful emergency list while maintaining clear responsibility across multiple muster locations.

Información
  • Mobile Roll Call notifications require the Suprema Pass app and a valid mobile credential. Users who use only RF cards or biometric credentials do not receive these notifications.

  • For more information on Roll Call, see Pase de lista.

SSO and SCIM Integration

BioStar Air now supports SSO and SCIM integration with Microsoft Entra ID and Okta.

SSO allows administrators to sign in through the organization’s existing identity provider. This helps customers apply their existing authentication policies to BioStar Air and reduces the number of separate credentials administrators need to manage.

SCIM allows users, user groups, and administrators to be provisioned from the same identity provider. This reduces manual account management and helps organizations keep BioStar Air identities aligned with their central identity system.

With this update, administrators can:

  • Configure Microsoft Entra ID or Okta as the site’s identity provider.

  • Allow SSO login for BioStar Air administrators.

  • Choose between SSO and local login policies.

  • Provision users, user groups, and administrators through SCIM.

  • Map identity-provider groups to BioStar Air user groups and administrator roles.

  • View whether an account is managed locally or through SCIM.

This makes BioStar Air better suited to larger organizations and customers with centralized IT and identity-management requirements.

Información
  • SSO and SCIM are available in the BioStar Air Admin Portal. The Partner Portal is not included.

  • Only one identity provider can be connected to a site at a time. At least one Site Master must retain local login access.

  • SSO and SCIM are available as a paid feature.

  • For more information on SSO and SCIM, see Configurar SSO Y SCIM.

Stripe Billing Proof of Concept

BioStar Air 2.13.0 introduces a Stripe Billing proof of concept for selected sites in the United States. The proof of concept creates a foundation for subscription-based billing while allowing the existing Credit System to remain available where needed.

Depending on the billing mode, customers can pay through the BioStar Air Admin Portal or distributors can pay on behalf of their customers through the Partner Portal.

The proof of concept supports:

  • A 30-day free trial for new sites.

  • One-year, two-year, and three-year subscription periods.

  • Customer-paid and distributor-paid billing modes.

  • Credit card payments through Stripe.

  • Optional automatic renewal.

  • Discount codes and subscription add-ons.

  • Billing status, renewal information, and invoice history.

Available add-ons may include SMS Invitations, BS3 QR License, Dynamic QR Credential Subscription, SIP Intercom, Video Management, and SSO and SCIM.

This gives partners and customers better visibility into subscription information and reduces the manual work required to calculate and process payments.

Información

Stripe Billing is available only for selected sites as part of this proof of concept. It does not fully replace the existing Credit System in this release.

Door and Access Level Improvements

We’ve made it easier to manage access levels while configuring doors.

Access levels can now be assigned or removed directly from an individual door. Administrators and technicians can also select multiple doors and update their access-level assignments in bulk.

Previously, these relationships were managed primarily from the Access Levels page. This update allows administrators and installers to start from the door they are already configuring.

With this update, you can:

  • Assign or remove access levels from the Edit Door page.

  • Update access levels for multiple doors from the Registered Doors list.

  • See whether an access level is assigned to all, some, or none of the selected doors.

This reduces navigation between Door Management and Access Management and makes configuration easier for sites with many doors and access levels.

Información

For information on how to assign or remove access levels to doors, see Administrar puertas registradas.

Notes on Firmware and App Upgrades

Some features in this release require updated device firmware or mobile applications.

  • Device firmware: Devices must be updated to firmware v2.13 to use APB, Zones, and On-site Now. If you use an SIO2, read the important information below before updating.

  • Applications: Administrators must update the BioStar Air app to the latest version to configure APB and Zones, view On-site Now, and use the enhanced Roll Call features. Mobile credential users must update Suprema Pass to the latest version to receive emergency notifications.

For SIO2 Users

BioStar Air v2.12 introduced primary and secondary devices, previously referred to as master and slave devices.

Readers running firmware v2.11 or earlier continue to discover and configure connected SIO2 devices through the device configuration screen. Upgrading a reader to firmware v2.12 does not affect an SIO2 already registered to it; the SIO2 continues to operate in legacy mode.

When upgrading a reader to firmware v2.13, however, you must use the new process to discover and register the SIO2 as a secondary device. This requires physical access to the SIO2 so that you can press its Reset and Init buttons. For instructions, see Add a secondary device in the BioStar Air Manual.

Información

Do not upgrade a reader connected to an SIO2 to firmware v2.13 unless you have physical access to the SIO2 and can press its Reset and Init buttons.

Version 2.12.0

Release|2026-04-23

BioStar Air 2.12.0 continues our commitment to making cloud access control more flexible, scalable, and practical for real-world installations.

This release expands BioStar Air beyond direct-to-cloud device architecture by adding support for CoreStation 20, XPass D2, XPass 2 Primary mode, and RS-485 device connections. With these updates, customers and installers can support both direct-to-cloud and controller-based configurations from the same platform.

Whether you are upgrading an existing site, reusing installed wiring, or setting up entry and exit readers, this release gives you more flexibility in how BioStar Air systems are designed and installed.

Version 2.12.0 also introduces Technician Access and improves Administrator Lifecycle Management, making it easier to manage external support access, administrator invitations, account status, and access permissions.

Controller-Based Architecture and RS-485 Support

BioStar Air now supports controller-based architecture using CoreStation 20, XPass 2 Primary mode, XPass D2 secondary readers, and RS-485 connections.

This gives installers more flexibility when working with existing infrastructure. Instead of requiring every device to connect directly to the network, supported secondary devices can now be connected locally through a CoreStation 20 panel or XPass 2 primary device.

With this update, you can:

  • Register and manage CoreStation 20 panels in BioStar Air.

  • Connect supported secondary devices using RS-485.

  • Configure XPass 2 as a primary device.

  • Register XPass D2 as a secondary reader.

  • Add supported OSDP and Wiegand readers to CoreStation 20.

This helps support retrofit projects, entry/exit reader configurations, and sites where reusing existing wiring is more practical than adding new network connections for every reader.

CoreStation 20 Panel Support

A new Paneles menu has been added under Gestión de dispositivos.

From this menu, administrators and installers can register CoreStation 20 panels, view panel information and status, discover supported secondary devices, add supported OSDP and Wiegand readers, and configure panel settings.

Supported panel settings include card settings, network settings, serial settings, Wiegand input, supervised input, and secure tamper settings.

Secondary devices connected to CoreStation 20 do not operate independently. Access control decisions are managed by the connected panel.

XPass 2 Primary Mode

XPass 2 can now be configured as a primary device for supported RS-485 connections.

When XPass 2 is used as a primary device, supported secondary devices such as XPass D2 and SIO2 can be connected and managed under the XPass 2 device.

A firmware upgrade is required before XPass 2 can use RS-485 primary and secondary device connections.

XPass D2 Secondary Device Support

XPass D2 is now supported as a secondary reader in BioStar Air.

XPass D2 can be added under a supported primary device or panel and used in door configurations. Available settings may vary depending on the XPass D2 model.

XPass D2 does not operate independently. It depends on the connected primary device or panel for access control operation.

OSDP and Wiegand Reader Support with CoreStation 20

CoreStation 20 now supports adding OSDP and Wiegand readers in BioStar Air.

OSDP readers are assigned manually to a port. Wiegand readers are assigned through available Wiegand input slots.

For Wiegand readers, BioStar Air does not verify physical device presence or wiring status. Correct wiring and input configuration are required for proper operation.

Important Setup Notes

Before adding or assigning RS-485 devices, check the following:

  • RS-485 baud rate, wiring, port selection, and device configuration must match the connected devices.

  • Device discovery depends on correct physical wiring and configuration.

  • OSDP readers are assigned manually to ports and are not discovered automatically.

  • Wiegand reader operation depends on correct input configuration.

  • nDevices used for the same door must be connected under the same primary device or panel.

Technician Access

Technician Access allows partners to assign technicians to specific customer sites without creating permanent administrator accounts.

Technicians are managed from the Partner Portal and can be assigned to individual customer sites with a defined access level. Site administrators remain in control because Technician Access must be enabled and unlocked from the customer site before the technician can access it.

Available technician access levels include:

  • Ninguna
  • Solo dispositivos
  • Completo excluyendo usuarios
  • Completo incluyendo usuarios

This helps partners support installation and troubleshooting work while allowing customers to limit access to sensitive user information.

Technician Access does not automatically expire. Site administrators should lock or delete technician access when installation or support work is complete.

Administrator Lifecycle Management

We’ve improved administrator management across the BioStar Air Admin Portal and Partner Portal.

Invitations now remain visible after they are sent, making it easier to track pending invitations, resend expired links, and revoke access when needed. This gives administrators better visibility into who has access, who has been invited, and which invitations still require action.

This update adds or improves lifecycle actions such as:

  • Viewing invitation status

  • Re-sending invitations

  • Revoking invitations

  • Locking or unlocking accounts

  • Deleting administrator or technician access

Invitation statuses include accepted, pending, revoked, and link expired.

Invitation links expire after 7 days. If an invitation expires, an administrator can resend the invitation.

Event Logs and Alerts

We’ve improved event log and alert handling to give administrators better visibility into device and system activity.

With v2.12:

  • Network disconnection alerts can now be received in real time when device connectivity is lost.

  • New RS-485 connection events are available for secondary devices.

  • Exit button events are now recorded in event logs.

  • Event logs can now display the RF card ID in a new column.

If an existing alert was configured for network disconnection events, review the alert settings after the update.

Due to firmware limitations, RF card ID display is available only when the user has a single RF card registered.

Device and Admin Portal Improvements

We’ve made several improvements to simplify everyday administration and reduce extra steps for administrators and installers.

Face self-registration links can now be sent from the User Information and Edit User pages.

Previously, face self-registration links could only be sent from the bulk action menu in the Registered Users list. This makes it easier to send a registration link while managing an individual user.

BioStation 3 Device Setting Improvements

BioStation 3 device settings have been improved.

This release adds:

  • The Se requiere T&A option directly in the BioStation 3 device menu settings in Biostar Air.

  • A warning when disabling Video Service while a camera is connected to the BioStation 3.

  • Improved syncing priority for users with Device Manager permissions.

At least one user should be set as a Device Manager to help ensure BioStation 3 device menu access is controlled properly.

Firmware Release Notes in Firmware Update Pop-up

The firmware update pop-up now includes links to firmware release notes, making it easier to review firmware changes before updating a device.

Elevator Device Registration Guidance

BioStar Air now provides clearer guidance when registering or assigning devices for elevator use.

This helps administrators and installers understand when a device cannot be assigned to an elevator because it is already assigned to a door.

Session Timeout Improvement

Session timeout behavior has been improved in the Admin Portal.

Previously, administrators could be logged out after a fixed duration even while actively using the portal. Session timeout now renews based on activity, allowing administrators to remain logged in while actively working.

User, Access Level, and Door Setting Changes

Several user, access level, and door settings have been updated to better match supported device behavior.

Changes include:

  • The PIN field has been renamed to 2FA PIN for improved clarity.

  • Individual access level validity settings have been removed.

  • Each access level can use one holiday group.

  • Exit Button Schedule has been removed from door settings to align with actual supported device behavior.

Bug Fixes

This release includes over 100 bug fixes and stability improvements.

Notable fixes include:

  • Improved validation for usernames during CSV import.

  • XPass 2 NFC/RF card setting is now on by default during registration.

  • Fixed an issue where the BioStar Air mobile app could crash when pressing the add button in the DST menu.

  • Fixed an issue where the iOS app screen could freeze after being invited to a new site.

Version 2.11.0

Release|2025-11-25

BioStar Air 2.11.0 continues our commitment to making cloud access control more reliable than traditional on-premise systems. This release introduces major improvements to offline behavior, updates to the admin experience, and powerful new capabilities for BioStation 3.

Whether you're managing a single site or dozens of locations, this update makes BioStar Air easier to use, more resilient, and ready for more complex deployments.

RFID Card Active Sync on XPass 2 and X-Station 2

As part of our long-term goal to exceed the reliability of on-premise access control, we’ve fully re-engineered how BioStar Air handles credential redundancy. With the new Active Sync architecture, readers continue working normally even when disconnected from the network.

All primary credential types remain fully functional during network outages:

  • RF Cards

  • Biometric Templates

  • Mobile Credentials

  • PINs

Información

You'll still need a network connection to use Dynamic QR and LinkPass Credentials.

Readers still plug in and sync automatically, with no new installation steps. Credential data is continuously synchronized in the background.

This feature is being rolled out by device type:

  • BioStation 3 / BioEntry W3

Available now. No firmware update required.

  • XPass 2

Rolling out beginning Nov 25, 2025. If firmware v2.11 is not visible yet, please be patient. All customers will receive it by Dec 9.

  • X-Station 2

Scheduled for release on Dec 23, 2025.

Interface Updates

We've made several UI enhancements to simplify everyday administration and reduce repetitive actions.

Device List

  • Added a Refresh Status() button for situations where the displayed status may be out of date.

  • You can now delete devices directly from the web portal without using the mobile app.

Devices must have an active network connection or they will still need to be deleted with the mobile app. Supported on the same schedule as firmware updates listed above.

Personal Information Masking

A new Mask Personal Information button hides sensitive user details while viewing event logs, admin logs, or user information on-screen. Helpful for audits or shared-screen reviews.

Reports

All dropdown filters are now searchable, making it easier to build report templates quickly.

User List

Improved the user-selection UI. Admins now see a visual count of selected users before performing batch actions.

Partner Portal

  • Improved user and device counts.

  • Improved site deletion workflow warns you if devices are still registered to the site.

BioStation 3 – Video Gateway Support

BioStation 3 can now operate as a video gateway, allowing it to process and relay video streams from multiple 4K cameras simultaneously. This gives sites a powerful and flexible way to deploy video without additional hardware.

To enable:

  1. Update your BioStation 3 firmware.

  2. Open Device Settings for your BioStation 3.

  3. Toggle Video Gateway on.

Información

Refer to our knowledge base article on Soporte y configuración de cámaras IP.

Event Logs & Alerts

Previously, some network-disconnection logs were stored on the device and only uploaded once the reader reconnected. This caused delays in alert visibility.

With v2.11:

  • Network disconnection events are now generated server-side.

  • Alerts appear immediately when a reader loses connectivity

  • Admins can respond more quickly to wiring issues, outages, or unexpected device behavior

This ensures consistent, real-time awareness, even when devices go offline.
